Archives Specialist A, B or C Job announcement

One (1) vacancy is located in the Archives – Records Management Section of the Secretary of State, Essen Lane, Baton Rouge, LA.

Job Duties:

  • Meet with state agency representatives to assist them in developing and managing their records in an efficient and economical manner.
  • Assist agencies with the development of their records retention schedules and electronic records surveys.
  • Receive and review disposal requests from agencies to determine if records have met retention and are eligible for destruction.
  • Conduct and teach training conferences for agencies statewide on records management and retention practices.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in library science, archival administration, public administration, history, or information technology, or juris doctor.
  • Three years professional experience managing records analog and digital content.
  • Certified Records Manager or related certification.
  • Working knowledge of Louisiana State governmental organizational structures, operations, and functions.
  • Experience in the application of automated information management systems to library, archival, records management, or business problems.
  • Experience in developing policies and procedures for a records program including workflows for both preservation and proper disposal.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to learning and working with emerging technologies and best practices.
  • Familiarity with government records.

 As part of a Career Progression Group, vacancies may be filled from this recruitment as an Archives Specialist A, B or C, depending on the level of experience of the selected applicant.  
 
Applicants must have Civil Service test scores for 8100-Professional Level Exam in order to be considered for this vacancy unless exempted by Civil Service rule or policy.
