Free Workshop! Collections Emergency Preparedness and Response

The Baton Rouge Lafayette ARMA Chapter is excited to announce a free full-day workshop:

Collections Emergency Preparedness and Response Workshop

Presented by LYRASIS
December 5, 2016; 9:00 – 5:00
EBR Main Library – 7711 Goodwood Blvd.

*Limited to 125 participants

Our chapter is offering this workshop to assist cultural institutions, businesses, and government agencies whose records and collections were impacted by the devastating floods experienced in Baton Rouge and surrounding areas.

Thomas Clareson and Annie Peterson from LYRASIS will cover disaster preparedness and response for cultural heritage collections. Participants will learn about the basic elements of a disaster plan and how to create or update a plan for their organization, including approaches to cooperative disaster preparedness. Risk assessment will be discussed and covered in an exercise, so participants can assess and mitigate risks at their own institution. The workshop will include a hands-on portion where participants can work to stabilize wet collection materials and learn about appropriate drying methods to effectively salvage materials.

Continental breakfast, lunch, and snacks will be provided.

Approved for 6.5 Continuing Education Credits for Certified Records Managers (CRMs).

We have applied to receive Continuing Education Units from the Association of Certified Archivists (ACAs). If there is another organization that you would like us to work with to get approval for other CEUs, please let us know.

The chapter has committed to working with partners and sponsors to ensure that there is no charge to attendees. If you are interested in partnering or sponsoring the workshop please complete our contact form for more details.
